Three prominent players who won’t be able to participate in next week’s All-Star Game due to injuries were replaced by other players on Tuesday by Major League Baseball.
Mike Trout of the Angels, a three-time MVP, and Aaron Judge of the Yankees, the current MVP, are both out for the American League team due to injuries. Clayton Kershaw of the Dodgers, a potential starting pitcher, won’t be available to the National League because of a strained shoulder.
Kyle Tucker, Wander Franco, and David Bednar of the Rays, the Astros, and the Pirates, respectively, take their spots. The Mariners’ own Julio Rodriguez and George Kirby are two further replacements that were announced on Tuesday and are sure to please the local supporters attending the game in Seattle.
As a result, Tucker is named an All-Star for the second year in a row. The 26-year-old outfielder is second on the team with 13 home runs, leads the Astros in hits (89), and has 55 RBI, which ties for the most on the team.
With 90 hits, including 21 doubles and four triples, Franco leads the Rays in both hits and stolen bases (26). The shortstop’s on-base percentage is.343 and his batting average is.283.
The 28-year-old Pirates reliever is now eligible to play in the All-Star Game for the second year in a row. Bednar has brilliantly struck out 37 batters in 31 1/3 innings while walking just four, earning him 16 saves and a 1.44 ERA.
