Climax of St Lucia Carnival 2kgreat
After weeks of partying and calypso tent rivalry, St Lucia carnival has reached its peak.
The most anticipated event of the season - the parade of the carnival bands - is now just hours away.
From 10 o'clock Monday morning, the city will explode in colour as the revelers begin their descent on the capital.
Scores of soca enthusiasts are currently chipping through the streets of Castries in annual j'ouvert morning street jump up.
Last night, scores of people converged on the Mindoo Phillip Park to witness St Lucia's sweep of the Caribbean Soca Monarch.
Ricky T - who won the power soca monarch last week - captured his second crown of the season, while Ilah Man came in second place.
And as St Lucia Carnival 2008 draws to a close, the main talking point emerging out of the season is Herb Black's liberation from calypso jail.
The singer/songwriter from Anse-La-Raye won the 2008 calypso monarch finals on Saturday to finally leave his mark on history.
It's his second crown for the season, in addition to the groovy soca monarch title he won earlier.
