Members of the St. Lucia Industrial and Small Business Association are said to be holding their breath in anticipation of the Prime Minister's budget address.
President of SLISBA Mr. Prime Minister Stephenson King is scheduled to leave the island today Thursday April 16th for Trinidad and Tobago where the 5th Summit of the Americas will be held. Prime Minister Stephenson King met with Public Sector Unions last night to discuss the global economic crisis and its impact on the local economy.
The talks come as Mr. King prepares his annual estimates of revenue and expenditure. The re-introduction of a garment factory in the Dennery Valley was the subject of a letter from the National Workers Union written to Prime Minister Stephenson King. Relatives accuse the authoirities of failing to provide assistance in their bid to recover the body of Newman William who drowned at Praslin Beach on Easter Monday.
