Earthquake in neighbouring island felt in St. Lucia
An earthquake which hit neighboring island, Dominica, during the wee hours of the morning sent shockwaves through a certain community in St. Lucia.
This was confirmed by the Seismic Research Centre.
According to a release from the National Emergency Organization (NEMO), on Monday, August 16th at 12:30a.m. an earthquake occurred southeast of Dominica. The event was located at 15.32°N, 61.03°W.
The magnitude was 4.9 and the depth was 122 km. The earthquake was reported as felt in Monier, Saint Lucia. No damage or injuries were reported.
Nemo warns that the results are preliminary and may vary slightly when additional data is processed.
